About Michele Tafoya
Michele began making waves in the sports media world in 1993, when she became the first female analyst to call UNC-Charlotte men’s basketball games at WAQS-AM. She went on to work as a host and sideline reporter for the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Timberwolves.
Over the next several years, Michele solidified her legacy as one of the most prominent sports journalists in the industry.
In 1994, she joined CBS Sports as a game reporter and studio host. She even worked as a WNBA play-by-play commentator on Lifetime. In 1997, Michele won the Gracie award for Outstanding Achievement by an Individual On-Air TV Personality. She then served two seasons as the sideline reporter for ABC’s Monday Night Football, before joining ESPN’s Monday Night Football in 2006 in the same role. From 2010-2012 she hosted “The Michele Tafoya Show” on WCCO radio in the Twin Cities.
In 2011, Michele was tapped by NBC Sports to become the sideline reporter for Sunday Night Football and she impressively won an Emmy for Outstanding Sports Personality/Sports Reporter in her first year with the network. In 2013, she won her second Emmy and in 2014, she won her second Gracie Award for Outstanding On-Air Talent in a Sports Program. Michele has also served as a sideline reporter during NBC’s broadcasts of Super Bowl XLVI (2012), Super Bowl XLIX (2015) and Super Bowl LII (2018).
Married with two kids, Michele is a native of Manhattan Beach, CA. She received her undergraduate degree from University of California, Berkeley and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
